Why Movies Uploaded to Plex Show Up as Madagascar 3
FLAC 24/48 Limitation on PMS / Fire TV Plex
I read the Fire TV development folio and it says FLAC is limited to 24 bits / 48 KHz, which I assume ways (and think I take tested) it will play those types of FLAC files directly with decoding on the Fire TV box.
When I try to play a 24/96 or 24/192 FLAC, it all the same outputs 24/48 to my preamp/processor via HDMI. Since Fire TV doesn't currently support anything higher, I'thousand guessing PMS is transcoding/downsampling the FLAC to 24/48.
Why does PMS exercise this? Burn Tv set supports PCM upward to 24/192 (6 channels). Shouldn't PMS transcode it to the appropriate PCM rate? Can I update a setting on the PMS on my Linux box?

Script for a random pre-roll video
I couldn't find any solutions for this in the forum, so I wrote a quick script to exercise this myself. If anyone has ideas for improvements allow me know.
Here is the script and caption/notes follow:

My Libraries are located under /media for my install.
I created a pre-roll library.
I downloaded some pre-scroll video into my library. And then I created a default.mkv file by copying an existing video to that. I had to separate the video as Plex recognized that it was a duplicate. Then I copied the url for my default.mkv file and pasted that in the pre-roll location in extras.
The script is located in my root directory in the jail that my plex media server is running in for freenas.
I'chiliad assuming that all my pre-gyre video files are mkv. If the formats are different then the script will not work as the default.mkv file will obviously not be the right blazon.
The script is running as root.
Finally, I gear up up a cronjob to run the script once a 24-hour interval at 3am:

Upgrading Dwelling house Media Storage for Plex - NAS vs Server
I currently have a Plex Server on a stand lone computer, and have a NETGEAR ReadyNAS 204 4-Bay running 4x4TB drives in Raid-5 (12TB avail.) for my movies and tv set to push button to the reckoner, and I have maybe 1TB gratis and its closing fast!
I now am trying to find a solution on how to grow my media. The hard drives are only a year or so one-time (I ported over a lot of media onto these when I bought them) so I dont want to just buy upgraded drives. I am wondering if I purchase an boosted NAS for storage and new drives, or if I go another route.
I currently have 2x Dell PowerEdge R620 servers lying effectually from some contract work I did, simply I don't necessarily want to run rack mounted servers in my house unless I have to (would also then have to buy a rack and observe out where to put information technology). I idea well-nigh potentially building the Plex Server at that place, but once again, just so many drives available as I dont have a rack mounted storage server. I also don't want to spend Oodles of money either. The current ReadyNas and 4x4TB drives I got for maybe $900-1000.
I would beloved input from you guys, as I feel I am making a jump from a smaller media drove to something a bit larger, thanks in advance!!
Storage Limit Reached Effect
(I posted this in iOS a couple days ago. Figured I would post here also as this seems to be way more active and since I paid $150 for the software, perchance there's a solution in here.....)
Having frequent bug on my wife'due south iPad. Either things won't sync or another issue. I have iv movies synced to it correct now. Tried syncing 6 episodes of a TV show... Each show is 400-500MB and I had 17.6GB of space left. No effect correct?
Wrong.... Offset, got a bulletin "Storage Limit Reached"
Airtight Plex, reopened it and it appeared to be fixed.
And then, I selected the season of shows... half-dozen episodes of Dice (funny BTW). Synced them and and so checked on status:
So I deleted all half-dozen episodes and so figured I would try 1 episode. It worked fine.
So I tried the remaining five. Did them 1 after the other. All 5 files in the Sync window were flickering dorsum and forth between downloaded and queued . I tin't paste a video unfortunately. Hither are a couple screen grabs while information technology was flickering.
So I deleted all of those to try again. My available storage ranges all over the place.... After a couple iPad hard resets, hither'southward what I had.
5 seconds later I had no space available.
But according to the Sync Settings screen, I had enough.
So, I synced all 6 episodes individually and information technology worked. Surely this $150 software I bought tin can't be this complicated.
I bought this so my married woman and kids had something easy to use. My married woman refuses to apply it now considering every time she tries something is screwed up and not working. I searched the forums and establish numerous threads upwards to a year old. Someone, anyone... delight tell me this is existence addressed. Surely it tin't be this difficult.
FYI, I'one thousand running iOS 9.35 and accept the latest version of Plex on my iPad. I know this, considering I deleted it an reinstalled 2 different times during all of this. I besides deleted my wife's account and made her a new managed business relationship just in case....
Movies e'er friction match Madagascar iii
For most the last month or and then every picture show I've added has been matched confronting Madagascar 3. I tin can go into "Prepare Wrong Match" and the correct movie is usually the 2nd on the list with Republic of madagascar 3 at the summit. Once I've fixed it information technology stays fixed although I don't dare refresh the library in case every motion picture is matched to Madagascar three. That would exist very fourth dimension consuming to sort out.
Can anybody propose what I can do to fix it?
PVR box with Plex app?
I'm looking to replace my beefy old Windows media player HTPC with a new PVR (similar a humax box) but I cant seem to find whatever that support the plex app. Anyone know of any ? (in the UK past the mode)

User/Server Status No Longer Showing Particular
When I click on the server status information technology no longer shows me the users currently continued to my server. I've tried everything from restarting the server to rebooting the server, and nothing seems to work. Information technology shows how many users are connected at any given time, but does not show me who and what is being watched like it normally does.
Whatever assist would be VERY appreciated.

I've tried everything from restarting the server to rebooting the server, and nothing seems to work. It shows how many users are continued at any given time, merely does not show me who and what is being watched like information technology normally does.

Unable to activate remote access on Ubuntu LTS 14.04
I made 2x days of troubleshooting everything on network and privileges and still non able to resolve my problem.
I was a user of Windows PMS and Synology PMS - everything where ok on this setups. Now i'm migrating to a Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS.
Had resolve all my privileges issues with the nfs drives (mapping the users on my NAS), i tin can access locally on the LAN the server http://:32400/web. I likewise able to access from outside network http://:32400/web and i'thou also able to access my server from http://app.plex.tv/web/app#.
Only i'thousand all the same not able to active the remote access on the server (he is not able to mapping the connection - Unknow IP accost on all ports). All my clients (Android and iOS) are non able to connect this way!
Any aid to solve this? I'm non able to scan 127.0.0.1:32400/web from my PMS server since it's a Ubuntu Server LTS

I'thousand quite positive that I somewhere along my setup for PMS fabricated a choice regarding how to sort movies starting with "the". As of at present it sorts by the word post-obit the "the", thus ignores it.
My question is of course: How do I modify that? :)

Is there whatsoever way to add a listing of DVDs and Blurays that I have in my collection to Plex? I don't desire to "create back-ups" and add together them to the Plex files on the server, but just have them in the library and be prompted to put them in my Blu-ray player if selected. It would help keep a full catalogue of movies I have.
cannot update to 3.0.69
I am on a Lumia 950xl. I accept tried to update plex to 3.0.69, windows shop does non see it every bit needing updated. I uninstalled cleaned cache, restarted. And it still install's 2.14.33.
Black Screen: Photos can't be seen in version 2.006.
Photos can non be seen in version 2.006 on Samsung JU7000 14.68 The screen shows a black screen when the internal histrion is used . With the external player photos look .
This fails occurs since previous versions. The spider web, windows and Android Plex app works great with the photos.

PLEX app vs VLC
Hullo there!
I've got a question. At the moment I utilize VLC on my ATV4 to connect to PLEX on my Synology Nas, which works great, if you tin can handle the tedious loading times when reading the folders. But I was wondering, if I would install the PLEX APP (paid version), will it play the same files as VLC?
Also, VLC uses SPDIF to stream the audio to my environs set. Can PLEX exercise that likewise?

I've been seeing an "update available" message for a long time. This morning I finally accepted the update, which is 1.one.4.2757.24ffd60. Last dark everything worked fine (I stream from plex media server to a Roku3). Tonight I can't play anything MKV from any device - Roku3, iPad, same Windows PC every bit the server is on. I can play files that are not MKV from all the devices that connect to the server.
Where tin can I download the previous version?
Is Plex Home Theater from the Windows 10 store a demo only plan?
I run a FreeNas box and have its Plex server SW installed. Had this for many years at present. I but upgraded to Win 10 on my HTPC and installed the Plex HT from the Windows Store. Movies run for a couple of minutes then they drop off to the starting screen with no error message.
Is the Plex HT sw purchase only? I was going to buy but I cannot practice so until I see it working as it should.

I am having an effect that has been ongoing for over a week at present with Plex Media Server that I can't resolve. The issue is that everyday, I am having to manually log into my server and cease/restart plex server because though the server is online, it won't permit any media to play, saying error in playing, nor, will it scan any new media. I noticed that if I stop/get-go the server all works for nigh 24 hours, then, aforementioned outcome comes dorsum upward. Currently, my server, information technology'south running, I can connect to it with no trouble, only I can not play annihilation, nor volition it scan any new media, even by manually clicking to do a force refresh. It's non until I terminate/start the server again that this volition resolve itself, but once more, just for a 24-hour interval, then I have to become this all once more. Don't know what is causing this result. I effigy since information technology's working for nigh a full day from the point I restart the server, that something is at some point causing the consequence once a solar day, merely I don't know what. ?? And similar I said the sever stays online all the time, it's but playing/scanning media that all of a sudden stops due to something, in one case a twenty-four hour period.
I was told this is a known bug in the latest version of Plex, still I haven't establish anything hither in the forums about this, is that what this issue is, a bug with the latest release? Thank you.
I tin provide logs if that would help, only should I edit out personal IP'south in those logs or encrypt the goose egg file and provide the psw to anyone that can help? Don't think posting logs with that info would be a good idea, just don't know the rule Plex has towards that...
Incorrect Program Proper name
For the final few days, Plex thinks that everything I record is an episode of Transformers:Prime. I've never recorded a episode of that show. Whatever ideas on how to get the proper descriptions?
Cant play videos, after trying to play the video the plex shows a "reload" choice, but information technology loops
Im trying to play some videos, and the plex app for AppleTV trys to open up the video files and right before playing it, shows a pic of the video, with a "reload" icon, and I can select the reload icon 20 times, and it loops doing the same thing..
any ideas guys?
